Spring, foals, and Futurity, all go together. Seven foals have been nominated already! Has yours been nominated yet?
The most common questions about nominations involve nomination of the sire and dam. The sire and the dam must be nominated yearly for new foals. If a sire or dam was nominated in 2022 for a 2022 foal, it
must be nominated again for a 2023 foal. However, if a sire or dam has been nominated in 2023 for foal “a”, it does not need to be nominated again for foal “b” or “c”. You can contact the Futurity Secretary to check if the sire or dam of your foal has already been nominated. If your foal was sired by a stallion sold at the NYSMHS Stallion Service Auction, the SSA will pay to nominate that stallion.
Congratulations to Canon, owned by Miner Agricultural Institute, who was the nominated sire for five foals in 2021! In 2016, Man in Black GCH was nominated for six foals. Ledyard Farm also nominated the dam, Dutch-Mor Joy, twice using embryo transfer. If you have any questions about your nominations, contact the Futurity Secretary!
