I am sitting here looking over my ad I sent for the Trader thinking about all the friends in the Morgan world that have passed away. Friends who loved the Morgan breed and dedicated so much of their lives to its survival in a horse world seemingly dominated by Quarter horses and other breeds. This was brought to my attention when a friend borrowed my trailer to take to Florida, and a horse owner/trainer read our sign on the trailer and told him he never heard of a Morgan horse. We need to expand our Morgan message across the horse world, not just in the Morgan area.
This spring, Sue Gramse and I represented the NYSMHS and Morgan horse at Equifest in Hamburg, NY. We have met so many people who grew up with a Morgan backyard horse and have shared many stories with us. We also had many people stop by who still have their Morgans, or at least a part Morgan, plus members of our club. Sue and I hope we will be able to continue supporting the Morgan breed at Equifest and would like to get more pictures of your Morgans doing many different things. We try to show the versatility of our beloved breed. Please send me pictures of your versatile Morgans! You can find my contact information in your directory.
Bill and I have pretty much decided to stop breeding due to age and health issues, but we do have a two year old colt sired by our Heritage Jim T, and out of Michelle Dahler-Humes’ mare, Acrosstime Princesssophie. Don’t know what our plans are yet for him, but you never know. Our 26 year old stallion, Jim, is on lease to a breeder in Michigan for two years, along with our Serenity Marchtime granddaughter to cross on their Flyhawk stock. Jim has sired three foals so far this year, and the mare had a bay filly, and they are very happy with all. We plan to take a trip in a couple of months to see everyone and get some pictures.
Acrosstime Jaunty Jim (Heritage Jim T x Acrosstime PrincessSophie), our 2022 stallion, gets to know two new friends.
