From the President's Desk
Happy New Year! I am so excited for all 2025 has to bring our club. I am taking a minute to let everyone know a little bit about me personally in the non-Morgan parts of my life. First, I am married 26 years to my husband David Peek. Together we have two amazing daughters; our oldest is Jillian Peek and our youngest Allison Peek. Both my daughters have left home to pursue careers in the equine industry.
I own a home-based dog-grooming shop. It has flourished over the last 14 years. This career allowed me to be as close to a stay-at -home mom as I could be. Now it allows me the freedom to be able to give back to the Morgan community that I love.

I am so honored and excited to be helping lead the NYSMHS. I enjoyed meeting many of our members at the SSA auction on Saturday, January 25th at the Del Lago Casino in Waterloo, NY, where we raised over $33,000 for our sweepstakes prize money! You'll see me next at the Winter Boot camp being held in conjunction with the Connecticut Morgan Horse Association, Massachusetts Morgan Horse Club, and the UPHA Chapter 14. This fun and educational event will be held at Lingering Hills in East Windsor, CT, and you'll find more information about that here on our website. Please come and find me! I love to be able to put names with faces.

Wishing everyone a healthy and happy start to this year!

The Friday night NYS Weanling and 4 year old Sweepstakes classes are always exciting, along with Futurity classes offered, NY Member classes, and a full line-up of performance classes in the Coliseum. Classical Dressage and Western Dressage will be running again this year, as well as Carriage Driving. Mr. Tom Bombolis and Mr. Dustin Freiheit have accepted our invitation to judge in the main ring, and Ms. Ida Norris will be in the judge's seat for all the dressage. We hope you plan to join us September 10th - 13th, 2025.

Morgan Grand National News from Corinthian Stables
NYSMHS members Todd and Sandy Trushel enjoyed the Morgan Grand National in Oklahoma City this year, as their young mare Corinthian Chorus Line, earned her WORLD CHAMPION WESTERN DRESSAGE title. Chorus Line (Ben's Rhapsody x Corinthian Sentimental) is five generations of Corinthian bred mares on her registration papers, and she delivered four flawless rides, and was also Top Ten Grand National Sport Horse In Hand. What a thrill! This talented mare is trained and shown by Liz Jones of Equestrian Elite at Apple Jack Farm. Todd showed in the PARADE HORSE FINALS with Michele McCleester's entry, Masterclass (The Master's Touch x NBN At Your Command). Both Corinthian Stables and Possibility Stables salute this big, attractive gelding for carrying the silver in style and winning Top Three in the National Finals this year. Leaving Oklahoma this year was bittersweet, as the Coliseum is slated to be demolished now. So the 2024 theme, THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES, was touching for this year's great win, but also for all of the World titles for Corinthian horses over the years. If you were lucky enough to show in the Oklahoma City Coliseum, you know the feeling of riding down the ramp into main ring and passing under the impressive neon sign—GATEWAY OF CHAMPIONS—It's a memory like no other!

By Jeff Morse, Green Meads Farm, Richmond, MAFirst published in the Foothills Driving Club Newsletter, Issue 9, February 28, 2002 If there were one piece of advice I could give to all new drivers, it would be this: driving is supposed to be comfortable. One the surface, this seems sort of obvious. In fact, it is so obvious that …
